Young Adult Poetry Writing Intensive
with award-winning author Melanie Crowder


Melanie Crowder is the author of middle grade novels Parched, A Nearer Moon and Three Pennies as well as two young adult novels, Audacity and the soon-to-be-released, An Uninterrupted View of the Sky. Melanie holds an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from the Vermont College of Fine Arts. She has received starred reviews and awards for her works including the Jefferson Cup and the Arnold Adoff Award for New Voices in Poetry. Melanie is an experienced educator and teacher of writing who is said to “blow the roof off the place” and has been deemed “a master in her own right.” For more information about Melanie and her books, visit


Young adult writers ages 13-18

WHEN: July 31st – August 4th, 6:00pm-7:30pm

WHAT:  Do you love poetry but wonder how to take your work to the next level? Or have you always wanted to write poetry but didn’t know where to begin? In this workshop, award-winning poet Melanie Crowder will help young writers understand and implement the elements of poetry. Attendees will learn with and from fellow writers, and have the option to read a finished poem in a showcase event at the end of the week.
